Most women notice themselves crying even for small things. Don’t worry about these things, all these are completely common during pregnancy. All these conditions are the result of rapid hormonal changes. Human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) is present for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and can frequently trigger nausea and vomiting.
Higher progesterone levels may also be a cause of increased fatigue and it can greatly affect your mood during pregnancy. For women who are pregnant for first time may feel little more excited because the belly button pops out slightly by the end of pregnancy week 9.
When you are 9 weeks pregnant, gassiness and bloating may also be most common symptoms. Most women feel uncomfortable with burping and flatulence.
Physical changes that occur in a 9 weeks pregnant woman:
The breast size will increase to a great extent and you feel them fuller and tender. You may also notice that areola on the breast becomes darker. The Montgomery’s glands and sweat glands may become more prominent as well as more numerous.

At the start of week 9, your baby is approximately 22-30mm (0.9 – 1.2 inches) from crown to rump. During this week, baby’s neck is more recognized and developed that enables turning and lifting of the head.
Eyes are still in the process of development and they are completely covered with eyelids. Baby’s eyes will be closed for the major part of your pregnancy. Irises start their functioning. Though the ears are visible they are not yet completely formed.
The baby looks like a tiny human being. Wrists are almost developed, the ankles are formed and the fingers and toes are clearly visible. The baby’s arms tend to grow longer and start bending at the elbows.
The genitals of the baby start developing. When you are 9 weeks pregnant, the placenta has almost well developed to assist with the production of hormones and balancing their levels. Placenta is also responsible to provide the essential nutrients for your baby as well as to get rid of the waste products.
Development of pancreas, gallbladder and reproductive organs takes place. The development of digestive system continues this week. Intestines will grow in length. Heart valves are almost developed. Upper lip is almost developed and the facial features will become more clear and visible during pregnancy week 9.
Kidneys start its functioning and start to urinate during this week. Embryonic tails will disappear and the baby’s face looks more round.
What care should be taken in a 9 weeks pregnant woman?
- Consuming enough proteins is much important. Increase the consumption of nuts, soy and beans to get more protein levels.
- Drink more fluids and get sufficient levels of vitamin C.
- Getting sufficient sleep and exercise is also much important.
- Measure your body weight every week instead of every day. The weight fluctuates during the day in between 1-5 lbs. So, you may not get the accurate weight.
Consuming something from the below mentioned foods will help you get sufficient nutrition levels in your pregnancy. They include:
- Dairy products like yogurt and milk to get sufficient levels of calcium
- Proteins like fish, meat, chicken and pulses
